Nurturing Financial Growth Within God’s Principles

As we approach the April 7th debut to our podcast, Thrive, we wanted to take a moment to share valuable insights that echo the essence of “Thrive” and align with our mission of fostering financial growth for families rooted in faith.

Nurturing Prosperity with Scriptural Wisdom 🌱

“The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” (Proverbs 10:22)

In this journey toward financial well-being, we understand the importance of aligning our actions with timeless principles. Our commitment to weaving scriptural wisdom into practical advice forms the backbone of “Thrive.” Today, we’d like to share a gentle reminder on embracing abundance, inspired by God’s promise of prosperity.

Contentment and Stewardship 🙏

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'”* (Hebrews 13:5)

True wealth lies not just in material possessions, but in the richness of contentment. On the podcast, we will explore the concept of contentment as a cornerstone for financial stewardship. Learn how finding joy in the present can be a catalyst for wise financial choices, ultimately paving the way for lasting prosperity.

Navigating Financial Challenges Together

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

Financial challenges are a shared experience, and as we journey together, “Thrive” aims to create a space for communal support. We will discuss practical ways to navigate financial hurdles within the context of community, emphasizing the strength found in unity.

Faith in Action: The Power of Everyday Acts of Kindness

In a world often overwhelmed by grand gestures and larger-than-life displays of faith, it’s easy to forget the profound impact that small acts of kindness can have on our spiritual journey. While we are saved by grace and not by works, our transformed faith should manifest in the daily choices we make. As the saying goes, faith without works is dead, and sometimes it’s the little things that speak volumes about the state of our hearts.

Here are some examples of acts of kindness we can practice in our daily lives:

1. Picking Up After Yourself:
At a restaurant, it may seem insignificant to clean up after yourself, especially when there are staff members assigned for that task. However, taking a moment to clear your table not only lightens their load but also reflects a consideration for those who work tirelessly in the service industry. This simple act exemplifies humility and selflessness, mirroring the teachings of Christ.
Luke 22:26 (ESV) – “But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.”

2. Starting the Coffee:
In the morning rush at home or the office, being the one to start the coffee can be a small yet impactful gesture. Even if you don’t drink coffee yourself, the act of preparing it for others demonstrates a selfless attitude and a willingness to serve without expecting anything in return.
Philippians 2:4 (NIV) – “Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others.”

3. Sharing the Sale:
When you come across a sale or a buy-one-get-one-free offer, consider sharing the extra item with someone in need. This could be a struggling family or a neighbor facing financial challenges. Such generosity not only helps others practically but also opens the door for meaningful conversations or anonymous acts of kindness.
1 John 3:17 (NLT) – “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?”

4. Volunteering Without Recognition:
Being the one who consistently volunteers to help, even if it goes unnoticed or unappreciated by others, is a powerful way to put your faith into action. Remember, you are not working for the acknowledgment of people but for the Lord, and your humble service reflects the heart of Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV) – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Engaging in these small acts of kindness on a daily basis is not just about making the world a better place; it’s also a means of deepening our spiritual journey. These actions serve as tangible expressions of our faith, helping us die to ourselves and become more Christlike. By imitating Christ in our daily lives, we learn to love sacrificially, putting the needs of others before our own.

In the grand tapestry of our spiritual journey, the threads of everyday acts of kindness weave a story of love, humility, and selflessness. While the kingdom of God certainly encompasses grand missions and transformative projects, it is equally built on the foundation of small, consistent acts of love and service. So, as you embark on your faith journey, remember that it’s not always about the magnitude of your actions but the sincerity and love behind them. If you’re looking for a way to kickstart your faith in action, consider taking the Act of Kindness Challenge , in the “15 Day Challenge to a Stronger YOU“, and witness the transformation in yourself as you strive towards a stronger, more compassionate you.

The Essence of True Love

In a world often marred by division and discord, the concept of true love stands as a beacon of hope, offering a transformative power that transcends human understanding. True love, as defined by Christ’s teachings, extends far beyond romantic notions and familial bonds. It is a love that emanates from the very heart of God, urging us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

The foundation of true love lies in the teachings and example set by Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of John 13:34-35, Jesus imparts a profound commandment to his disciples: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

Christ’s love goes beyond mere affection; it is sacrificial, unconditional, and boundless. His life serves as a living testament to the transformative power of true love, inviting us to emulate His example in our daily lives.

Loving Your Neighbor as Yourself:

The biblical concept of loving your neighbor as yourself is an extension of the love of Christ. In Matthew 22:39, Jesus declares, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This commandment challenges us to look beyond our differences and treat others with the same compassion, empathy, and kindness that we desire for ourselves.

True love calls us to break down the barriers that divide us, embracing the diversity of humanity with open hearts and open minds. By embodying the love of Christ, we can create a ripple effect that spreads love, healing, and unity in our communities.

Embracing Unconditional Love:

Unconditional love, a central theme in the teachings of Christ, is the key to true love. In Romans 8:38-39, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the unwavering nature of God’s love: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

As we strive to love our neighbors as ourselves, we must cultivate a love that transcends circumstances, prejudices, and judgments. True love, inspired by Christ, is a force that persists in the face of adversity, fostering unity and understanding.

In a world yearning for authentic connection and harmony, the love of Christ serves as the timeless blueprint for true love. By internalizing His teachings, embracing unconditional love, and extending that love to our neighbors, we can contribute to a society where compassion triumphs over division. As we embark on the journey of living out the love of Christ, let us remember the words of 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Do everything in love.” True love, rooted in the love of Christ, has the power to transform hearts, mend relationships, and create a world where love reigns supreme.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The Impact of Social Media on Our Christian Witness

Today, I want to delve into a personal pet peeve—social media. Admittedly, I spend more time on these platforms than I’d like to admit. While they serve as sources of information and entertainment, they can also be breeding grounds for contention. The keyboard warriors who populate these spaces often forget that, despite the virtual barrier, their words impact real people with real feelings.

What irks me most is when fellow believers, driven by fervor or frustration, become ensnared in the web of online negativity. It’s easy to forget that our life testimony can either draw people closer to Christ or push them away. While delivering the right message is essential, the way it’s conveyed matters just as much.

Scripture reminds us in Colossians 4:6 (NIV), “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

This week, I witnessed a TikTok live session unfold before my eyes, it featured a self-proclaimed believer and minister engaging in a political discourse. Unfortunately, her behavior left much to be desired. Instead of embodying the love and grace of Christ, her words were a torrent of insults and profanities. People commenting how behavior like hers repels them from Christianity is one that pains my heart.

As followers of Christ, we are called to walk in His footsteps. Being real and authentic is crucial, but embodying Christlikeness should be our guiding principle. In the journey of change, respect for those around us becomes the foundation.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) reminds us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

Disagreements are inevitable, especially in the vast landscape of social media. However, our response can either foster healthy dialogue or deepen the divide. It’s essential to recognize that not everyone will share our viewpoints. Agreeing to disagree respectfully opens doors to future conversations.

In conclusion, our online behavior shapes our living testimony. This extends beyond our physical interactions into the virtual realm, where anonymity is merely an illusion. As Christians, we are never anonymous to God.

Let’s conduct an honest inventory of our behaviors and reactions, identifying areas where we can enhance our living testimony. This isn’t about putting on a façade but genuinely respecting and loving others, even in the digital mission field.

As we navigate the complexities of social media, may our actions and words reflect the love of Christ, drawing others closer to the Gospel rather than repelling them away.

As always be blessed.

Navigating Uncertainty with Unshakable Faith: A Guide to Finding Peace in Turbulent Times

In a world marked by constant change and uncertainty, maintaining a steadfast faith can be a source of comfort and guidance. Whether facing personal challenges, global crises, or the unknown future, embracing faith provides a foundation for stability and hope. In this blog post, we’ll explore the importance of faith in times of uncertainty, drawing inspiration from timeless scriptures to guide us through the storm

  1. The Anchor of Faith in Stormy Seas:
In the midst of uncertainty, faith acts as an anchor, grounding us when the waves of doubt and fear threaten to overwhelm. Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Embracing this truth allows us to face uncertain times with resilience and confidence.
  2. Turning Fear into Faith:
It’s natural to feel fear in uncertain circumstances, but faith transforms fear into an opportunity for trust and reliance on a higher power. As 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Letting go of fear enables us to approach challenges with a clear and focused mindset, guided by faith.
  3. Scriptural Guidance for Uncertain Times:
Explore scriptures that specifically address uncertainty, such as Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” These verses offer practical wisdom for navigating life’s uncertainties with faith as our compass.
  4. Building Resilience Through Prayer and Meditation:
Engage in the transformative power of prayer and meditation. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Cultivating a habit of prayer provides solace and strength in times of uncertainty.
  5. Community and Shared Faith:
Joining a faith community fosters a sense of belonging and support. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” Shared faith strengthens individual convictions and provides a network of encouragement during challenging times.

In times of uncertainty, faith serves as a powerful tool for navigating the unknown with grace and courage. By anchoring ourselves in scriptures, turning fear into faith, and fostering a community of shared beliefs, we can find peace amidst life’s uncertainties. Remember, as Romans 15:13 proclaims, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Embrace faith, and let it be your guide through the storms of uncertainty.

Embarking on the journey to a stronger, more resilient you is a transformative experience that begins with faith and intentional practices. Trusting God’s Plan: Embracing Faith, Obedience, and Divine Guidance

In the journey of faith, believers often find themselves grappling with the challenge of trusting God’s plan for their lives. The desire to know the outcome before taking the steps can be a stumbling block on this path of trust and obedience. Let’s explore the struggles, doubts, and the uplifting truth that lies in surrendering to God’s perfect plan.

As believers, we may doubt the signs placed before us, especially when they lead us to unfamiliar territories. Seeking assurance becomes a constant plea, even when God presents unmistakable billboards. Our human inclinations and discomfort may hinder our ability to wholly trust His plan. Yet, as followers of Jesus, we are called to close our eyes and let Him lead, even when the destination is unknown.

Drawing parallels from the Bible, we recall the story of Abraham and Isaac. When God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac questioned his father about the sacrificial lamb. Abraham, in faith, replied that God would provide. Similarly, we are called to follow God’s plan, trusting that He will open the right doors, close the necessary ones, and bring the right people into our lives.

Reflecting on our daily lives, we often trust mundane things with blind faith – the food we eat, the water we drink, the coffee prepared by someone else, or the Uber driver transporting us. These things can fail or not meet our standards, yet we trust them without question. It is a poignant reminder of our tendency to doubt the Creator of heaven and earth and HIS perfect plan for our lives, when he never fails.

God desires our trust. He orchestrates the details when we surrender our plans to Him. We must cease attempting to navigate life independently and embrace the peace that comes from following His divine blueprint. The journey may not be easy, but the burden is light when we align ourselves with God’s will.

I recognize the fear associated with stepping into the unknown. However, reflecting on past experiences where God provided, freed, and saved, serves as a testament to His unwavering love; I can’t but to trust.  It is a call to all of us to  relinquish control and allow Jesus to guide through His plan.

As we step into a new year, it’s an opportune moment to challenge ourselves to a higher level of trust in God. The message resonates as an encouragement to let go of self-driven agendas and embrace the divine path set by the Creator.

Trusting God’s plan requires faith, obedience, and a willingness to let go of our fears and doubts. The journey may be daunting, but the promise of divine guidance and a plan tailored by a loving Creator awaits. As believers, let us embark on this new year with a renewed commitment to trust God and allow His plan to unfold in our lives.

If you need prayer or seek support on this journey, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments or connect via email.

And remember, challenges can be opportunities for growth. Consider picking up a copy of the “15-Day Challenge to a Stronger You” – perhaps the next step in your plan to grow closer to God. Embrace the unknown, for it is in trusting God’s plan that we find true peace and fulfillment.

My 2023: A Year of Twists, Turns, and Tiny Triumphs

Hello dear readers,

As I reflect upon the past year, it is evident that 2023 was a mosaic of moments, each holding its own lesson. Come, journey with me through the highs and lows, the laughter, and tears, of this transformative year.

A New Tradition and Its Lessons

The beginning of the year saw us embracing the Three Kings celebration with gusto. Gathering around the table at a local Puerto Rican restaurant, I had hoped to share a slice of my culture with my family. But, as the night unfolded, it was not just the delicious food that caught our attention. The unexpected overcharges and the lackluster service turned into a comedic backdrop, reminding us that sometimes, it is the unexpected moments that create the most lasting memories.

For those not familiar with this holiday, its celebrated-on January 6th, and it commemorates the visit from the wisemen visiting Jesus in the manger bringing gifts (Matthew 2:1-11).

Toddlerhood: The Adventure Continues

Oh, the joys of toddlerhood! My once quiet baby has blossomed into a whirlwind of energy, imagination, and independence. Every day has been a new adventure – from discovering the joy of splashing in puddles to the simple pleasure of chasing after butterflies. As they say, “Wait till the threes!” – but for now, we are navigating the world of toddler tantrums with love and patience.

South Carolina and Toddler Tunes

March whisked us away to South Carolina for family gatherings and shared laughter. Upon return I hoped to introduce my little one to the world of music with a toddler’s music class. However, the little maestro had other plans, turning the classroom into his personal racetrack! A switch to Storytime at our local library and a delightful encounter with Farmer Betsy’s farm-themed sessions became our go-to activities. And guess what? This fall, soccer entered our lives, and trust me, my little champ can kick!

Sailing the Seas with Dr. Seuss

Summer brought with it waves of excitement as we embarked on a Bahamas cruise. Navigating the azure waters with my tiny explorer was both exhilarating and enlightening. Every sunset, every laugh echoed the joy of togetherness. Traveling with a toddler might seem daunting, but our energies synchronized perfectly. The highlight? The Dr. Seuss breakfast! Witnessing my little one’s face light up with joy was pure magic.

Life’s Unexpected Twists

August took an unexpected turn when I was laid off from my 9-5. But every cloud has a silver lining. This phase allowed me to reconnect with my first loves: God and writing. As the ink flowed, I reconnected with words, rediscovered passions, and rekindled dreams. This hiatus has been a journey of introspection and growth.

Rebirth and Reflection

My recent baptism was not just a ritual; it was a soulful rebirth; a decision long overdue. My spiritual journey has been profound, reminding me of life’s true essence.

And speaking of new beginnings, my latest book, “15 Day Challenge to a stronger YOU!” hit the shelves. The inspiration for this book was the tried and failed yearly attempt for resolutions that are never started or rarely fulfilled. The book includes nine different challenges to adjust to everyone’s needs. Not everyone’s resolution is to hit the gym or eat healthier. I think the important thing about this book is that regardless of how successful you are in the practical parts of the challenge will never compare to the spiritual connection that the process will grant you.

For my fiction aficionados, stay tuned. There is something brewing!

Looking Ahead

As 2023 draws to a close, a tapestry of memories unfurls. Amidst the uncertainties of tomorrow, I anchor myself in faith and wisdom. Here is to 2024, with its promises, challenges, and infinite possibilities.

I would love to hear your 2023 tales and hopes for 2024. Until our next chat, stay blessed, and a Happy New Year to all!

Finding Comfort in Connection, Self-Care, and Faith During the Holidays

The holiday season is often portrayed as a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness. However, for many individuals, it can be a challenging period marked by loneliness, grief, and sadness. Whether due to the loss of a loved one, being far from family and friends, or struggling to form connections, the holidays can magnify feelings of isolation. Today, we’ll explore the various challenges people may face during this time and offer suggestions on how to cope, with a special emphasis on incorporating faith as a source of solace and strength.

1. Acknowledge and Validate Feelings:

The first step in addressing holiday loneliness and grief is to acknowledge and validate your feelings. It’s okay to feel sad, and it’s important to recognize that others may be experiencing similar emotions. Understanding that these feelings are a natural part of the holiday season can be a crucial first step toward healing.

2. Connect with Supportive Communities:

If you find yourself far from loved ones or lacking a strong social support system, consider reaching out to local communities, religious groups, or online forums. Attend community events, volunteer at local charities, or participate in virtual gatherings. Building connections, even if they are temporary, can provide a sense of belonging and alleviate loneliness.

3. Create Meaningful Traditions:

Crafting new traditions that align with your current circumstances can help reframe the holiday season. Whether it’s volunteering at a local shelter, starting a personal ritual, or joining community events, creating meaningful experiences can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

This may sound silly as you’re by yourself, but it can be quite meaningful. One of my silly traditions is for New Year’s Eve. I don’t like to be out of my house, but I stay up late. After the new year has started, I locate a comedy channel and watch stand up comedy until I fall asleep. I look forward to that little tradition every year.

4. Embrace Self-Care Practices:

Self-care is crucial during times of loneliness and grief. Focus on activities that bring you joy, relaxation, and comfort. This could include spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, indulging in hobbies, or simply taking a break to rest and recharge. Prioritize your mental and emotional well-being as an essential part of your holiday routine.

5. Seek Professional Support:

If feelings of loneliness and grief become overwhelming, seeking professional support can be incredibly beneficial. Therapists, counselors, and support groups can offer guidance, understanding, and coping strategies tailored to your specific situation.

6. Include God in Your Journey:

For those who find strength in their faith, including God in the process of navigating difficult times can provide solace and comfort. Engage in prayer, meditation, or attend religious services to connect with a higher power. Allow your faith to be a source of hope and guidance as you navigate the challenges of the holiday season.

If you want to start a habit of prayer or meditation, consider checking out my new book, The 15 day Challenge to a Stronger You! One of the challenges in the book is creating the habit of daily meditation.

The holiday season may bring forth a mix of emotions, but it’s essential to approach this time with compassion and self-care. By acknowledging your feelings, fostering connections, creating meaningful traditions, and including God in your journey, you can find strength and resilience during difficult times. Remember that you are not alone, and there are resources and communities available to support you on your path to healing and peace.
